BIOGRAFIA/BIOGRAPHY
Marlov Barrios nace en la ciudad de Guatemala en 1980. Estudió Arquitectura en la Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala y grabado en la Escuela de dibujo, pintura y grabado La Esmeralda, México D.F. Es fundador del grupo La Torana con quien participó en la primera Trienal del Caribe, República Dominicana en el año 2010 y en la Bienal de Pontevedra España en el año 2010. Así también, es cofundador del Taller Experimental de Gráfica de Guatemala en el año 2008 y de La Ruleta junto a la artista Lucrecia Muñoz, espacio para el arte contemporáneo en la ciudad de Guatemala en el año 2012. Su obra forma parte de colecciones privadas en Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, México, Nicaragua, República Dominicana, España y Taiwán.
Ha presentado diecisiete exposiciones individuales en Guatemala, México y Costa Rica, entre las que destacan: Optimus en la Galería El Attico, Guatemala 2007; Antropométrica Galería Medellín 174, México D.F. 2010; Emblemática Galería Arte La Fábrica, Guatemala 2010; Dínamo Galería Ana Lucía Gómez Arte Latinoamericano, Guatemala 2011; Super Nova Galería El Tunel, Guatemala 2012; Micro fe Galería Anomalía, México D.F. 2013; La gloria oscura en La Ruleta, Guatemala 2013; Borrasca en Ciudad de la Imaginación 2013; Fulgor en galería El Tunel 2014; Palpitaciones en Galería Nacional de Exposiciones San José Costa Rica 2014 y Plus Volta en el Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo de Costa Rica 2014.
Entre las exposiciones colectivas más importantes figuran: 9na Bienal de Artes Visuales del Istmo Centroamericano, Guatemala 2014; 19 Bienal de Arte Paiz 2014; VIII Bienal de Artes Visuales del Istmo Centroamericano en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Panamá 2013; Landings 8 en el Taipei Fine art Museum, Taipei 2008; La Joven Estampa en Casa de Las Américas, La Habana Cuba 2007; V Bienal de Artes Visuales del Istmo Centroamericano en el MARTE, El Salvador 2006.
En el 2014, publicó su primer libro de dibujos “Palpitaciones” con coedición de Dinamitalibrosarte y Editorial Germinal, San José Costa Rica.
Entre sus reconocimientos más importantes están: Glifo de Oro, con el Colectivo La Torana en la XVI Bienal de Arte Paiz, Guatemala 2008; Primer Premio en el Segundo Salón Nacional del Grabado 2008; Glifo de Plata, Artistas Invitados en la XV Bienal de Arte Paiz, Guatemala 2006 y Mención al grabador menor de 30 años en el Primer Salón Nacional del Grabado Guatemala 2005.
Marlov Barrios was born in Guatemala City in 1980. He studied architecture at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala and recorded in the School of drawing, painting and printmaking La Esmeralda, Mexico DF He is founder of The Torana with whom he participated in the first Triennial of the Caribbean, Dominican Republic in 2010 and the Bienal de Pontevedra Spain in 2010. Also, he co-founded the Experimental Graphic Workshop Guatemala in 2008 and Roulette with the artist Lucrecia Muñoz, space for contemporary art in Guatemala city in 2012. Her work is in private collections in Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Spain and Taiwan.
He has presented seventeen solo exhibitions in Guatemala, Mexico and Costa Rica, among which are: Optimus in Gallery Attico, Guatemala 2007; Anthropometric Gallery Medellín 174, Mexico DF 2010; Emblematic Gallery Art Factory, Guatemala 2010; Dynamo Gallery Ana Lucia Gomez Latin American Art, Guatemala 2011; Super Nova Gallery El Tunel, Guatemala 2012; Micro faith Anomaly Gallery, Mexico DF 2013; The dark glory Roulette, Guatemala 2013; Borrasca City of Imagination 2013; Glare gallery El Tunel 2014; Palpitations National Exhibition Gallery San Jose Costa Rica 2014 Plus Volta in the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design in Costa Rica 2014.

In 2014, he published his first book of drawings "heartbeat" with co-publishing Dinamitalibrosarte and Editorial Germinal, San Jose Costa Rica.
Among his most important awards are: Glyph of Gold, with Colectivo La Torana at the Sixteenth Biennial of Art Paiz, Guatemala 2008; First Prize at the Second National Exhibition of Printmaking 2008; Glyph Silver, Guest Artists at the XV Biennial of Art Paiz, Guatemala 2006 and mention the minor recorder 30 years in the First National Salon of Engraving Guatemala 2005.
